IBM i in the Cloud?

Aaron Bartell posted an interesting link to a new Frankeni Technology pursuit: IBM i Personal Development in the cloud (leaked by iGor, aka Jim Oberholtzer, on the WEB400 list).

This should be VERY interesting … watch that space.

  1. I don’t have enough experience to know if micro partitioning will really work or not, but this could be a good thing for individual developers, the IBM i platform, and the community, if it does. I’m hopefully optimistic.

We’re probably in a position to continue buying or leasing our own servers, but individuals need an environment where they can work autonomously, in self-directed fashion, where they control the manner and means, so to speak.

We could see a lot of new creative works emerging out of something like this.
